Turn on the heat with Hotspot

Perfect for vehicle repair and thin sheet fabrication environments, the HotSpot function with four different heat settings makes metal shrinking and component heating simple and convenient. Fit the carbon electrode set to the FE welding torch and activate HotSpot on the control panel. Once the carbon electrode touches the workpiece, it forms an electrical circuit that gently heats the metal’s surface. HotSpot can also heat and help loosen corroded nuts, bolts, and other metal components.

Floor level design

GasMate chassis design makes gas cylinder collection, storage and movement easy. Gas cylinders are floor-level loaded and secured with a strong fabric webbing system.

Kempact RA gets the job done

Kempact RA is ideal for a variety of MIG/MAG welding applications. From vehicle repair to light- and medium-duty fabrication workshops, Kempact RA delivers reliable results.

Special features in Kempact Regular (R) models

Regular (R) models provide manual setup functions for voltage and wire feed speed and incorporate a wide range of standard features including Gas Type Selection, 2T/4T Gun Latching Mode, Spot/Cycle Arc Timer and HotSpot Function, a specialist localised heat treatment function for professional thin sheet fabrications and automotive repair engineers.

415v MIG Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing a three-phase MIG welder for workshop and production use.

What is the difference between 400v and 415v on these machines?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

In practice, very little. Older documents and some machine labels refer to 415v, while the current nominal figure for a UK three-phase supply is usually given as 400v. Machines are normally designed to work within a tolerance either side of their rated input, but the allowed range depends on the maker and the model.

Check the data plate and the manual for the supply the machine accepts, compare that with the measured supply at your site, and ask a qualified electrician if you are unsure.

Air-cooled or water-cooled: which should I choose?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Air-cooled torches are simpler and need no extra equipment, and suit many general jobs. Water-cooled torches carry higher current for longer without overheating, so they suit heavy, continuous or production welding, but they need a cooler and a little more upkeep.

Choose according to the current and the duty cycle you will use.

What does a high duty cycle give me?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Duty cycle is the proportion of a ten-minute period the machine can weld at a given current before it must cool. A higher duty cycle at your working current means fewer interruptions on long welds.

If you weld continuously at high current, look at the rating at that current rather than the headline maximum.

What is the difference between a compact and a separate wire-feeder system?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A compact machine has the wire feeder built into the power source and is simpler and easier to move. A separate (split) system has an independent wire feeder connected by an interconnecting cable, which you can carry to the work, away from the power source.

Separate feeders suit large fabrications and reaching big workpieces, and compact units suit general workshop use.
