Turn on the heat with Hotspot

Perfect for vehicle repair and thin sheet fabrication environments, the HotSpot function with four different heat settings makes metal shrinking and component heating simple and convenient. Fit the carbon electrode set onto the FE welding torch, then activate HotSpot on the control panel. Once the carbon electrode touches the workpiece, it forms an electrical circuit that gently heats the metal’s surface. HotSpot can also heat and help loosen corroded nuts, bolts, and other metal components.

Floor level design

GasMate chassis design makes gas cylinder collection, storage and movement easy. Gas cylinders are floor-level loaded and secured with a strong fabric webbing system.

Kempact RA gets the job done

Kempact RA is ideal for a variety of MIG/MAG welding applications. From vehicle repair to light- and medium-fabrication workshops, Kempact RA gets the job done reliably.

Special features in Kempact Adaptive (A) models

Adaptive panels include plate thickness control, filler material selection, and four memory channels, plus an adaptive mode setup for your convenience.

230v MIG Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing a MIG welder that runs from a normal single-phase supply.

Who are single-phase MIG welders for?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

They suit workshops, garages, farms, mobile engineers and light fabrication where a standard single-phase supply is all you have. Modern inverter designs draw relatively little current for their output, so many can run from a normal socket or a suitable dedicated circuit.

They are popular for both industrial and home use, and cover a wide range of work from thin sheet to moderate thickness.

What is the difference between an inverter and a conventional single-phase MIG welder?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

An inverter converts the supply electronically, which generally makes the machine lighter and smaller, and often gives finer control of the arc. A conventional (transformer) machine uses a heavy transformer, so it is bulkier, but it is simple and robust.

How much current each type draws for a given output varies between machines, so compare the input current and weight on the data plate and in the manual. For portability and a limited supply an inverter is often the better choice, while some people prefer a transformer design for rugged, simple workshop use.

Should I buy a bigger machine than I think I need?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A little extra capacity is often worthwhile, because a machine working well within its rating runs cooler, copes better with longer welds and gives room to grow. Very large machines use more power, are heavier and may need a stronger supply.

Think about the thickest material you will weld and how continuously you will weld.

How does duty cycle affect me?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Duty cycle is the proportion of a ten-minute period a machine can weld at a given current before it must cool. Machines usually have a much higher duty cycle at lower current.

If you weld for long periods at high current, choose a machine with a suitable rating. If the machine overheats, a thermal cut-out stops it until it cools.
