The XMT 450 MPa is an outstanding multi-process synergic/pulse welder designed for easy use. The operator selects the wire diameter, wire type, gas type and wire feed speed and they are ready to weld.

This water-cooled package includes XMT 450 MPa Power Source, a 4.5m Bernard T-Gun water-cooled MIG gun, S-74 MPA Plus Wire Feeder, V-Groove 1.2mm Drive Roll Kit, and a Running trolley with a middle shelf and feeder plate. Coolmate 3 Water Cooler with 3 x 3.78L Low Conductivity Coolant, 10m Interconnection Cable & 5m 400A ground cable.

The machine features standard built-in programs for steel, metal-cored, aluminium, stainless steel, nickel, silicon bronze and copper-nickel wires. Advanced arc controls provide a more robust, stable Pulsed MIG arc at a very low arc length, reducing heat input and allowing weld on a wider range of material thicknesses.

The system is optimised when connected to a 74 MPa Plus wire feeder.

    • Operation is simplified with synergic Pulsed MIG controls, which give the operator “one-knob” control over pulse adjustments by adjusting wire feed speed. • The system also offers Profile Pulse™, a feature that gives a cosmetic bead appearance similar to TIG welding
    • Consistent, versatile and dependable aluminium welding is possible with the 74 MPa Plus wire feeder, using Alumination™ technology that also allows for extended-reach push-pull guns

    415v MIG Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing a three-phase MIG welder for workshop and production use.

What is the difference between 400v and 415v on these machines?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

In practice, very little. Older documents and some machine labels refer to 415v, while the current nominal figure for a UK three-phase supply is usually given as 400v. Machines are normally designed to work within a tolerance either side of their rated input, but the allowed range depends on the maker and the model.

Check the data plate and the manual for the supply the machine accepts, compare that with the measured supply at your site, and ask a qualified electrician if you are unsure.

Do I need special wiring or a fuse rating to install one?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Yes, it needs a three-phase connection with the correct cable size and protection for the machine's input current, installed by a competent electrician. The manual states the recommended supply cable and fuse or breaker rating.

Do not connect a machine to a circuit that has not been checked for the load. Poor supply causes tripping, overheating and unreliable welding.

    Air-cooled or water-cooled: which should I choose?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Air-cooled torches are simpler and need no extra equipment, and suit many general jobs. Water-cooled torches carry higher current for longer without overheating, so they suit heavy, continuous or production welding, but they need a cooler and a little more upkeep.

Choose according to the current and the duty cycle you will use.

What is the difference between a compact and a separate wire-feeder system?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A compact machine has the wire feeder built into the power source and is simpler and easier to move. A separate (split) system has an independent wire feeder connected by an interconnecting cable, which you can carry to the work, away from the power source.

Separate feeders suit large fabrications and reaching big workpieces, and compact units suit general workshop use.
