Breathing means living. The Optrel Swiss Air respiratory protection system brings clean breathing air into your environment and lets you breathe as freely as you can otherwise only enjoy outdoors in nature. This unit includes a control panel positioned on the shoulder harness. This includes filter contamination and battery status, airflow control and on/off switch, and altitude and temperature compensation.

As fully trained and certificated distributors for the Swiss Air system, we are qualified to give you expert advice and instruction on the Swiss Air system and other alternative Optrel systems.

Many workplaces and public spaces produce pollutants such as smoke, soot particles, particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, ozone or viruses that can enter the lungs through the nose, throat and trachea, causing asthma, chronic cough, bronchitis or other respiratory diseases including lung cancer. With the Optrel Swiss Air respiratory protection system, you enjoy fresh air, completely independent of your activity and your other protective equipment. It makes you independent and free.

Unlimited clear view of your workspace. Filtered and clear air with adjustable air distribution makes the Clearmaxx the unique face and respiratory protection system with the highest safety level.

Adjustable air distribution

A rotary switch can be used to feed 20% of the air cooling the forehead area. Direct air draft crossing the eyes leading to dry eyes is avoided by the air distribution system.

Optrel Air Fed Helmets FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing a complete auto-darkening helmet and powered respirator package.

What is a ready-to-weld package and what should it include?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A ready-to-weld package combines an auto-darkening welding helmet with a powered air-fed respirator unit, so you get head, eye, face and respiratory protection that are intended to work together. Typically it includes the helmet, a blower unit, a battery and charger, a breathing hose, filters and a belt or harness.

Check the contents list of the exact package, because items such as spare filters or a spark pre-filter are not always included. Buying matched parts also avoids doubt over whether the combination has been tested and approved together.

How do I choose between the different helmet shells in a package?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Think about the work you do. Look at the viewing area, the lens clarity and how the helmet feels on your head for long periods. Some shells are made for general welding, some for tight spaces, and some can be worn over or with a hard hat.

Try to compare the lens specification, the weight and balance, the adjustment of the headband and the side visibility. A helmet you find comfortable will actually be worn all day, which matters more for your protection than any single feature.

Can the same blower unit be used with different helmets?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Often the blower unit and breathing hose can be moved between compatible helmets or a grinding visor, which is a useful way to expand your protection without buying a second respirator. This works only where the maker states the combination is compatible and approved.

Check with the manufacturer's instructions, and do not mix components not designed to work together. The airflow, the connection and the approval of the whole assembly all matter for your safety.

How long do the battery and filters last in everyday use?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Run time depends on the battery type and condition, the airflow setting and the filter loading. Temperature and a clogged filter can also affect it. Batteries lose capacity as they age and should be replaced when run time drops.

Filters last according to the amount of fume and dust they see, so heavy use means more frequent changes. Do not wait for failure. Check the data plate and manual for your own unit, and replace the filter when the airflow warning appears or the filter is damaged or wet.
