Ease Of Use, Wide Range Of Settings

Not just packed with technology, the Artis also has a user-friendly operating concept incorporating a simple press-and-turn button and a clear, illuminated function display. Eleven parameters can be selected directly and without a background menu.

Robust, Lightweight, And Functional

The function carrier is the central element in the structural design of the welding machine, keeping all components in place. Like the housing, it is made of durable plastic and tested for mechanical stresses that far exceed the standard. This guarantees the highest level of robustness possible while keeping the weight to a minimum.

40% Duty Cycle At Maximum Output Power

Weld for four minutes without a break at 170 or 210 amperes, depending on the model.

30% Mains Voltage Tolerance At Maximum Output Power

This is an enormous advantage, especially in poorly protected grids. The inverter technology perfectly compensates for voltage fluctuations or input voltage that is too low, so that the maximum output is always supplied.

96 - 265 V Mains Voltage Supply

The high bandwidth of the power supply makes the Artis 170/210 compatible with almost any grid worldwide.

110v TIG Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing and using TIG welders for 110 volt site supplies.

Why would I choose a 110v TIG welder?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

On many UK building sites, shipyards and industrial locations, 110 volt supplies from a centre-tapped transformer or generator are the preferred or specified way to power portable equipment, because they reduce the risk of electric shock in damp or rough conditions. A TIG welder made to run on 110 volts lets you work to those site rules without extra equipment.

Many of these machines are portable inverters, light enough to carry. Some are multi-voltage machines that also run from 230 volts, which gives flexibility between site and workshop. Always check your site rules and the machine's data plate.

What does a multi-voltage machine do?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A multi-voltage machine senses the supply and adjusts to suit, so the same welder can run from 110 volts and 230 volts, and sometimes other ranges. This gives flexibility if you move between site and workshop.

Remember that the output you get depends on the supply it is connected to, and that the plug and fuse or breaker must match. Always check the manual for the maximum current at each voltage.

Why is my machine cutting out or tripping?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

On a 110 volt supply, the current drawn is high, so supply and cable problems show up quickly. Common causes are an undersized or very long extension cable, an overloaded supply or transformer, a tripping breaker rated too low, or too many tools on the same circuit.

Use the shortest, heaviest extension lead that is suitable, make sure the supply can provide the needed current, and run the welder at a current the supply can sustain. If the machine has a thermal protection light, allow it to cool.

Do I need a special extension cable?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Yes, use a cable properly rated for the current the welder draws, and keep it as short as practical. A thin or very long cable drops voltage, which reduces welding power and can make the machine cut out. Extension reels should be fully unwound, since coiled cable can overheat.

Use site-approved 110 volt cable and connectors in good condition. Check the manual for the recommended cable size, and have any doubtful equipment inspected before use.
