No matter what happens: Reliable in all situations

The compact Ignis product family offers the perfect weld every time, even under the most adverse conditions, in the smallest of spaces, indoors or outdoors. The Ignis 150 /180 makes a stable arc a reality, even with long grid leads or voltage fluctuations.

This robust MMA welding machine always provides perfect results, even with unstable grids, generator-powered operation, or over a wide operating radius. It makes the Ignis the perfect companion - especially on construction sites, for repair and maintenance work in industry and agriculture, and in any home workshop.

    Product Details

    Mobile And Robust

At only 6.5Kg (Ignis 150) and 8.8Kg (Ignis 180), both models are truly lightweight and suitable for mobile use. The robust construction of the devices as well as the integrated stainless-steel filter provide reliable protection even in demanding outdoor welding tasks or volatile weather conditions.

Full Power Even with Long Grid Leads

Perfect welding results even with grid leads up to 100 metres long are a matter of course with Ignis 150 /180. This is made possible by the integrated PFC technology (Power Factor Correction), among other features. As a result, the devices are particularly energy-efficient and disruptive interference with the grid is minimised.

    Easy And User-Friendly Operation

The intuitive operating concept and 7-segment display make it possible to quickly read the parameters that have been configured and simplify handling. Set slightly back, the user interface is also well protected against damage and external influences.

Wide Range of Versions with Additional Functions

The Ignis TIG models are a great way to get started with mobile TIG welding and offer convenient remote-control operation.

    230v Arc Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing and using a 230 volt single phase arc welder.

How much welding current can a 230 volt supply provide?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Single phase supplies limit how much current a welder can draw, so the top-end output of 230 volt machines is lower than three phase equipment. Within that limit, a good inverter can handle a wide range of electrode sizes, from fine work to fairly heavy repair welding.

For heavy plate, long continuous welding or large diameter electrodes, a three phase machine is the better fit. Check the maker's output and duty cycle figures at the current you actually plan to use.

Does the plug and fuse on my supply matter?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Yes. The welder draws more current at its maximum setting than a typical household appliance. Check its input current on the data plate and make sure the plug, socket, cable and circuit protection are rated for it.

A socket circuit that is too small will trip, overheat or give a weak arc. Some machines are supplied with a particular plug rating. Have a qualified electrician check or upgrade the supply if you are unsure.

What is the difference between a transformer and an inverter welder?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Transformer welders use a heavy iron and copper transformer to reduce the voltage. They are robust and simple, but they are heavy and usually draw more current from the supply for the same output.

Inverter welders convert the supply electronically before reducing it, which makes them noticeably lighter and smaller, and usually gives a smoother, more controllable arc. Most current 230 volt welders are inverters. The exact weight and energy saving vary from machine to machine, so compare the weight and input current on the data plate and in the manual for the machines you are considering.

    Can I run a 230 volt welder from a generator?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Sometimes, but not every welder suits every generator. The generator must supply the welder's input current continuously, with a margin, and give a clean, stable voltage. A generator that is too small or poor quality can cause cut-outs, an unstable arc and damage to the welder's electronics.

Size the generator from the welder's input power, not its welding output, and check the welder's manual and data plate for any generator guidance. If the manual does not say the machine is suitable for generator use, ask the maker before connecting it.
