The Rogue ES 250i is a welding power source intended for welding with coated electrodes, MMA (including cellulosic electrode), and Live TIG welding.

With a maximum output capacity of 250 Amps combined with high duty cycle, the Rogue ES 250i provides power to tackle a wide range of welding tasks, from repair and maintenance to heavy-duty fabrication projects.

This machine features multiple adjustments, such as Hot Start and Arc Force, to tailor the arc for desired preference and electrode type. Special 6010 mode brings extra power to control cellulosic electrodes for premium quality results.

The compact dimensions of the whole ESAB Rogue line make it convenient to move between workstations or job sites, helping you to maximise efficiency and productivity. Built with durability in mind, they feature a rugged construction that withstands the rigours of heavy-duty use. From the sturdy casing to the robust internal components, every aspect is engineered for long-lasting reliability in demanding working conditions.

415v Arc Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing and using a three phase arc welder.

Why choose a three phase 415 volt arc welder?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Three phase power supplies energy more evenly and in larger amounts than a single phase supply, so three phase welders can produce higher currents and sustain them for longer. They suit heavy fabrication, structural work, workshops with frequent welding and any job using large electrodes.

They also tend to draw less current per phase for a given output, which puts less strain on the supply.

Do I need a three phase supply to run one?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Yes, normally. These machines need a three phase supply of the right voltage and capacity. Many industrial units have it but most homes and small premises do not.

Some machines can be connected to a suitable three phase generator, and some multi-voltage models accept a range of supplies. Always check the data plate and manual for the voltage range, current draw and fuse rating, and have connection to the supply made by a qualified electrician.

What is the difference between 400 volt and 415 volt on a welder?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

In the UK, three phase supplies are commonly described as either 400 or 415 volts, which is essentially the same nominal supply described in different ways. Welders are designed to tolerate the normal variation in supply voltage.

What matters more is that the machine is designed for the supply voltage range you have. Check the data plate, and if the machine lists a range or multiple voltages, follow the maker's instructions for configuring it.

Is a three phase welder better for thick material?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Generally yes. Higher usable current and a stronger duty cycle mean three phase machines cope better with thick plate, large electrodes and long welding runs without overheating.

That said, a lot depends on the individual machine. Compare the output current and duty cycle at the settings you will use, rather than assuming any three phase machine will suit every heavy job.
