INDUSTRIAL MULTI-PROCESS WELDER OFFERING MORE THAN A GREAT WELD
360-degree modular multi-process welder primarily focuses on high-performance MIG/AMG welding. X5 FastMig offers setup options for manual, synergic, and pulse welding. A wide range of accessories brings flexibility and efficiency to welding production processes.
Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing and using modular industrial MIG/MAG welders and their subfeeders.
A modular industrial MIG welder is built from separate parts: a power source, a wire feeder, a torch, and optional items such as a cooling unit, trolley and subfeeder. You build the system to match your work and change it later as needs change. It is aimed at fabrication shops, heavy engineering and production welding where reliability, output and flexibility matter.
On a manual machine you set voltage and wire speed separately. A synergic machine sets them together from a single control once you pick the material, wire and gas. A pulse machine adds pulsed current for lower heat input and less spatter.Manual suits experienced welders who like full control, synergic speeds up set-up and consistency, and pulse suits aluminium, stainless and quality-critical work.
A subfeeder is a separate wire feeder that sits close to the work, linked to the main machine by a cable. It lets you weld a long way from the power source, with a short, light torch lead.It is useful on large structures, in shipyards, tanks and tall assemblies. Check that the subfeeder is compatible with your power source and whether you need an air-cooled or water-cooled version.
Air-cooled torches and subfeeders are simpler and fine for moderate current. Water-cooled equipment stays cooler at high current and long duty, which is more comfortable and extends consumable life.Water cooling needs a cooling unit, coolant and regular checks for level and leaks. Choose it for heavy production use at high current.
Consider the thickest material, the wire diameter, and how long you weld continuously. A larger machine runs cooler at a given current and has headroom for heavy work.Compare duty cycle at the current you actually use, not just the maximum figure. Our team can help you choose.
Higher-output machines draw a lot of current, and a three-phase supply spreads that load across three lines so it is easier to support for long periods of heavy welding. Some machines can run on either supply, usually with a lower output on single phase.Check the data plate and manual for your own machine to see its supply requirements. Have a qualified electrician confirm the supply, protection and cable size before you connect, and do not modify the supply yourself.
