This air-cooled ready-to-weld package includes the Lincoln Invertec 220TPX TIG Welder Power Source, Lincoln WTT2 17 Air-Cooled 4m TIG Torch, 5m Workpiece Cable and Clamp, Lincoln 0-15 LPM Argon Regulator and Lincoln Hose Tail & Nut Set.

Professional TIG welder for tough conditions

The Invertec 220TPX TIG & Stick welders combine rugged industrial construction with excellent arc characteristics. They are fully functional DC TIG inverters with excellent arc control and perfect Arc Start in any welding conditions. All the machines have been designed as TIG welders and operate as stick welders with various popular stick electrodes. Their portable, rugged design makes them ideal for workshops and outdoor use. The Invertec 220TPX includes all the same features and advantages as the Invertec 170TPX model with the additional Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuitry, which allows TIG welding up to 220A with 16A single phase input voltage. All the machines are designed to operate with engine-driven generators.

    Features

    • Advanced inverter technology for superior TIG performance
    • Full function user-friendly control panel layout with graph and a numeric display make it easy to set all welding parameters
    • Generator compatible, ideal for site use
    • Rugged construction electrical safety (IP23), potted PC boards and optimum airflow reduce contamination to extend the equipment’s life in the harshest environmental conditions
    • HF and Lift TIG ignition meeting all requirements
    • Perfect TIG HF starting with pre-settable starting mode
    • Complete TIG parameters setting Pulse TIG with variable frequency that allows the welder to adjust the arc focus to suit the applications, 10 memory locations for personalised welding setting, TIG Spot welding
    • PFC (Power Factor Correction) advantages: 30% more output current with the same input current, suitable for 115-230V (+15%-10%) single phase, low current consumption, energy saving, low current harmonics and reduction of the total CO2 produced by the welding process

    110v TIG Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing and using TIG welders for 110 volt site supplies.

    Why would I choose a 110v TIG welder?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

On many UK building sites, shipyards and industrial locations, 110 volt supplies from a centre-tapped transformer or generator are the preferred or specified way to power portable equipment, because they reduce the risk of electric shock in damp or rough conditions. A TIG welder made to run on 110 volts lets you work to those site rules without extra equipment.

Many of these machines are portable inverters, light enough to carry. Some are multi-voltage machines that also run from 230 volts, which gives flexibility between site and workshop. Always check your site rules and the machine's data plate.

    Can I run a 110v TIG welder from a generator?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Often yes, if the generator is large enough and produces a clean, stable output. Inverter welders can be sensitive to poor quality power, so check the generator's output rating, waveform and regulation against the welder's requirements.

A generator that is too small will cause cutting out or damage. The welder manufacturer's guidance on generator size and type is the best guide, and a 110 volt transformer or centre-tapped output is often used on site. If unsure, ask before connecting.

Why is my machine cutting out or tripping?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

On a 110 volt supply, the current drawn is high, so supply and cable problems show up quickly. Common causes are an undersized or very long extension cable, an overloaded supply or transformer, a tripping breaker rated too low, or too many tools on the same circuit.

Use the shortest, heaviest extension lead that is suitable, make sure the supply can provide the needed current, and run the welder at a current the supply can sustain. If the machine has a thermal protection light, allow it to cool.

    Do I need a special extension cable?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Yes, use a cable properly rated for the current the welder draws, and keep it as short as practical. A thin or very long cable drops voltage, which reduces welding power and can make the machine cut out. Extension reels should be fully unwound, since coiled cable can overheat.

Use site-approved 110 volt cable and connectors in good condition. Check the manual for the recommended cable size, and have any doubtful equipment inspected before use.
