Hypertherm introduces the SYNC series, the next generation of Powermax 65 / 85 / 105 plasma systems. Unlike any other plasma systems, the Powermax SYNC series features built-in intelligence and a revolutionary single-piece cartridge consumable. Change how you work with a simplified system operation, streamlined consumable inventory, lower operation cost and maximised performance. All this combined makes the Powermax 65 / 85 / 105 plasma systems the smarter choice for cutting and gouging applications.

Product Details

Easy to use

  • Easy to identify single-piece cartridge consumables are colour-coded by the process to eliminate parts mix-up and simplify consumable inventory management.
  • New SmartSYNC torches with the Hypertherm cartridge automatically set the correct amperage and operating mode, eliminating setup errors.
  • End-of-life detection lets the operator know when it’s time to change the cartridge.

Minimises operation costs

  • Simplified operation minimises downtime, troubleshooting, waste and training time.
  • Advanced cartridge consumable design provides up to twice the life for hand cutting and improved quality over life in mechanised setups compared to standard consumables.
  • Access cartridge data for performance tracking and analysing usage patterns.

Maximise performance

  • Tackle a wide range of jobs with easily interchangeable torch styles and application-specific Hypertherm cartridge consumables for various types of cutting and gouging.
  • Reduce training time with a simplified setup and consistent performance.
  • Time-saving torch controls allow the operator to adjust the amperage on the fly and change consumables and applications without returning to the power supply.

Industry-leading reliability

  • SmartSYNC torches are engineered for rugged, industrial environments.
  • SpringStart technology ensures consistent starting and a more reliable torch.
  • Industry-leading reliability reduces production downtime.

All Hypertherm Hand Systems FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing a professional hand-held air plasma cutting system.

What is the difference between single-voltage and dual-voltage plasma systems?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Smaller professional units are often dual-voltage, meaning they can run from a standard single-phase workshop or site supply at either of two common voltages, which makes them very portable. Larger systems are usually three-phase, which supports higher power for thicker, faster cutting.

Check your supply before choosing. Using a unit at its lowest supply setting can reduce the maximum current you get, so confirm the cutting capacity at the voltage you will really use.

Which torch length and head angle should I choose?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A longer torch gives you reach without moving the machine, which helps around large fabrications. A shorter torch is lighter to handle and suits workshop benches. Choose the shortest lead that does the job comfortably.

Head angle matters too. A steeper, angled head gives a natural working posture for cutting flat plate, while a straighter head suits cutting into tight spots and working with a guide. Some buyers choose a system with two torches so they have both.

What is a two-torch package and who is it for?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Some plasma systems are sold as a package with two torches. Depending on the system, these may be two hand torches with different head angles or lengths, or one hand torch and one machine torch. It lets you switch between different kinds of work, such as general cutting and awkward access, or hand cutting and mechanised cutting.

It suits busy fabrication and maintenance workshops where the work varies. If you do one kind of cut most of the time, a single-torch system is usually enough. Check which torches and consumables are included with the system you choose.

What does an automation port allow?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Some hand plasma systems have a connection for automation. It lets the system be connected to a cutting table, a motion controller or a mechanised carriage, so that the controller can start and stop the arc and receive signals back from the plasma system.

For hand-held cutting you do not need it, but it can be useful if you may later add automation. The type of connection and the signals it supports differ between systems, so check the manual and the cables and interface you would need before relying on it.
