Dual input voltage machine for MIG/MAG, MMA and Lift TIG

Rebel EMP 235ic offers the same multi-process capabilities as the smaller EMP 215ic but with more power (230A at 25%) and higher wire speed. It is configured to carry 200mm or 300mm (15Kg) spools and is equipped with a gas valve for built-in gas control in TIG mode. The multi-process capabilities of the EMP 235ic, combined with its low weight and compact format, make this machine truly versatile.

Package includes power source with 3m mains cable and plug, MXL 270 3m MIG Torch, welding and return cable kit 3m, gas hose with quick connector 4.5m, drive rolls and contact tips.

    Features

    • True Multi-Process – excellent performance on MIG/MAG, TIG and MMA
    • Extremely user-friendly and multilingual TFT panel incorporating spare part lists and weld parameter guides for all processes
    • Unmatched Portability – weighing in at 28.6Kg with dual voltage capability and 4-handle roll cage
    • Power to Perform – capable of running any wire from 0.6mm to 1.0mm and also cored wires up to 1.2mm on both 200 and 300mm spools
    • Full MMA Performance with electrodes up to 4mm and excellent Lift TIG performance with adjustable pre/post gas flow and weld current ramp up/down
    • sMIGTechnology – innovative “smart-MIG” feature that dynamically monitors the arc characteristics, ultimately adapting to your technique, resulting in a smooth, stable arc. Set wire diameter, material and plate thickness, and you are ready to weld
    • Two gas inlets, one for MIG and one for TIG, where both can be connected simultaneously. Built-in TIG gas solenoid valve on the front of the machine, eliminating the need for a manual valve on the TIG torch

    110v MIG Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing and using a MIG welder that runs on a 110v supply.

    Who is a 110v MIG welder for?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

These machines suit people who work where a reduced-voltage supply is required or preferred, such as some construction and site environments, where reduced-voltage tools are commonly used to lower the risk of electric shock. Check the rules that apply to your own site.

They are also useful for maintenance and repair work where a heavier supply is not to hand.

Because the supply limits the current, they are best for thinner material and lighter work rather than heavy fabrication.

What thickness of steel can a 110v machine weld?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

It depends on the machine, but a 110v supply limits the current you can draw, so these welders are best for thin to moderate material. Thicker steel needs more power, or several passes with good preparation and a joint design that helps.

Check the maker's stated capacity for the supply you will use, and do not expect the same performance as a machine running from a higher voltage.

What does dual-voltage mean, and does the machine perform the same on both?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A dual-voltage machine can run from either a reduced-voltage or a standard mains supply. It detects or is set for the supply, and the maximum output is normally lower on the reduced voltage.

That means the same machine may weld thicker material on the higher supply. Check the maker's ratings for each voltage so you know what to expect.

    Can I run a 110v welder from a generator?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

It depends on both machines, so check the welder's manual and data plate for its input current or power rating, and the generator's manual for its continuous output and whether it has a suitable 110v outlet.

The generator needs enough continuous output for the welder's input demand with some margin, and some welders draw a surge when the arc strikes. Generator and welder makers may state which pairings suit, so follow their guidance. An undersized generator can cause tripping or an unstable arc, and may be damaged. If in doubt, ask a competent electrician.
