The Master M 205 set new standards for power and performance in a portable MIG welding machine. With a portable, lightweight design that's easy to carry, you'll enjoy having a portable MIG welder that can be moved wherever you need it. If you're working in tight spaces, the 7" LCD screen is bright and easy to read, while self-charging LED lights can be turned on to improve safety. They work with or without mains power.

The Master M 205 is also easy to use. The portable MIG welding machine comes with Weld Assist, which offers automatic parameter settings that help you start welding quickly. It's a simple solution that welders can also use with minimal experience. Just select the material thickness, joint type, and welding position, and start welding.

The Master M 205 is a portable pulse MIG welder with 200 amps of power at a 40% duty cycle. Take on a wider range of materials with pulse welding and do your best work anywhere with the convenience of a 1-phase power supply. Save time and take welding to the next level with 37 built-in MIG/MAG welding programs for Fe, Ss, AlMg5, AlSi5, CuSi3, and CuAl8 filler materials. The Master M 205 comes with 17 programs for pulse MIG and 20 programs for 1-MIG.

If you're looking for a portable MIG welder that can complete high-quality welds in challenging environments, the Master M 205 should be on top of your list.

230v MIG Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing a MIG welder that runs from a normal single-phase supply.

Who are single-phase MIG welders for?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

They suit workshops, garages, farms, mobile engineers and light fabrication where a standard single-phase supply is all you have. Modern inverter designs draw relatively little current for their output, so many can run from a normal socket or a suitable dedicated circuit.

They are popular for both industrial and home use, and cover a wide range of work from thin sheet to moderate thickness.

Can I plug it into a normal socket?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Some smaller machines can, but many need a dedicated circuit with suitable protection, and some larger single-phase machines need a heavier supply than a normal domestic socket gives. Check the machine's input current and the supply and fuse or breaker rating it requires.

Have a qualified electrician check the supply if you are unsure. Running a machine beyond what the circuit can supply causes tripping and can be dangerous.

What is the maximum thickness a single-phase machine can weld?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

It depends on the machine's output and the process. Smaller machines suit thin sheet and light fabrication, while larger single-phase units cope with thicker plate, especially with good joint preparation and multiple passes.

Check the maker's stated capacity rather than relying only on the headline current, and remember that duty cycle limits how long you can weld at the top of the range.

How does duty cycle affect me?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Duty cycle is the proportion of a ten-minute period a machine can weld at a given current before it must cool. Machines usually have a much higher duty cycle at lower current.

If you weld for long periods at high current, choose a machine with a suitable rating. If the machine overheats, a thermal cut-out stops it until it cools.
