Optrel Clearmaxx – things are clear!

Unlimited clear view of your workspace, filtered and clear air with adjustable air distribution make the Clearmaxx the unique face and respiratory protection system with the highest safety level.

Adjustable air distribution - A rotary switch can be used to feed 20% of the air cooling the forehead area. The air distribution system avoids direct air draft crossing the eyes, leading to dry eyes.

Multi-function distribution - Combining it with the Optrel e3000 PAPR system with mountain breeze filter, the Clearmaxx becomes the perfect buddy for countless types of work. The easy-to-change DIN5 front cover lens expands the system to the perfect protector for efficient plasma cutting.

Wearing comfort - Thanks to a minimised weight of only 495g and an ergonomic fit, the Clearmaxx sets new benchmarks in wearing comfort.

Ideal for: Grinding, metal industry, food industry, sandblasting, woodworking, feather industry, agriculture.

e3000 Powered Air Purifying Respirator - The e3000 PAPR system complements your Optrel PAPR mask with protection for your respiratory system, which makes no compromises in matters of safety, health and comfort.

The e3000 PAPR system allows Optrel to guarantee:

  • Highest safety class (TH3)
  • Protects reliably from smoke, aerosols, and dust
  • Integrated, automatic airflow control
  • Expendable with mountain breeze odour filter

Better working conditions for greater efficiency, comfort, and performance.

Top Protection Class

Tough environmental conditions such as smoke, dust and vapours require a highly efficient air-purifying respirator system to ensure the welder’s health and safety at all times. Combined with any compatible Optrel helmets, the e3000 complies with the top protection class TH3 according to EN 12941.

Highest Comfort

The three airflow settings from 150 to 250nl/min, in combination with the helmets, provide a comfortable air distribution that is individually adjustable. The highest setting of 250nl/min cools down the welder even in the hottest conditions, thus increasing concentration and reducing fatigue.

Quick Operational Readiness

Safety regulations mandate that airflow be checked before every PAPR use. Compared to other respiratory systems requiring a manual air flow check at start-up, the e3000 automatically checks air flow, decreasing the time a welder needs to monitor the start-up.

Increased Productivity

An efficient battery management system with operating times of up to 20 hours provides an uninterrupted workflow over two shifts, thus increasing the welder’s effective welding time.

Lower Operating Costs

The filter system consists of a pre- and particle filter. The large particle filter reduces the filter’s clogging rate. Together with the sophisticated filter-changing concept, this helps customers to optimise their operating costs.

RPE Air Fed Helmets FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing powered air respirator helmets for welding and grinding.

What is an RPE air fed helmet package?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

It is a welding or grinding helmet combined with a powered air unit worn on a belt. The unit draws in air through filters, and a hose carries it to the helmet so the wearer breathes filtered air rather than the fume around them.

RPE stands for respiratory protective equipment. Packages bring the helmet, blower, filters, hose and battery together so they are designed to work as a set.

How does a powered unit differ from a simple disposable mask?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A powered unit moves filtered air to the wearer, so breathing is easier, the air is cooler and there is a positive flow inside the helmet. A disposable mask relies on the wearer drawing air through the filter, which becomes tiring over a shift.

Powered units also avoid the need to fit a seal tightly to the face in the same way as a tight-fitting mask, though the helmet still needs to be worn correctly.

Which filters are needed for welding?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Welding fume is mostly fine particles, so a particle filter of a suitable class is needed. If the work also gives off gases or vapours, for example from some coatings, cleaning products or processes, a different or combination filter may be needed.

Filters are marked with their type and class. Check the data plate and manual for your own unit, use only the filters it lists, and let your risk assessment decide which class is right for the work you do.

How long will the battery last and how do I look after it?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Battery life depends on the battery, the filters fitted, the airflow setting and the temperature, and decreases as the battery ages. The manual gives typical run times.

Charge it fully before use, use only the charger supplied, store it as recommended and replace it when run times drop noticeably.
