ArcReach welding technology minimizes the non-value-added time spent walking to and from the power source and maximizes arc-on time, weld quality and jobsite safety. When operators have complete control at the feeder or remote, even hundred metres away from the power source, it minimizes downtime and maximizes productivity, while improving operator safety and delivering high quality welds.

    Shops FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing equipment and consumables by maker.

Is it better to stay with one maker for my machine, torch and accessories?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Often it is the simplest route. Parts from one maker are designed to work together, so connections, controls and consumables line up, and you have a single source of advice and support. Some machines also use digital connections between the machine, torch and remote controls that only work with that maker's own parts.

It is not essential, though. Many items, such as gas regulators, standard torch connectors, clamps and general safety equipment, follow common fittings and can be mixed. Check compatibility against the maker's information before combining parts from different makers.

What is the difference between genuine and compatible consumables and spares?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Genuine parts are made or approved by the equipment maker for a specific model. Compatible parts are made by another company to fit. Some compatible parts work well, but others differ slightly in dimensions, materials or finish, and that can affect fit, arc stability, how well they handle heat and how long they last.

For safety-critical items such as electrical parts, gas fittings and protective lenses, follow the maker's recommendation, and check the warranty terms before fitting parts the maker has not approved. For everyday wear parts, compare the specification carefully rather than assuming that anything that fits is equivalent.

    How do I read a machine specification?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Look first at the input supply: the voltage, whether it is single-phase or three-phase, and the input current. Then look at the output: the current range, and the duty cycle at a stated current, which tells you how long the machine can weld in a ten-minute period before it needs to cool.

Also check which processes it supports, the wire or electrode sizes it takes, the cooling method, the weight and the protection rating. When you compare machines, compare duty cycle at the same current, because a high maximum current means little if the machine can only hold it for a short time.

    What after-sales support should I look for?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Good support starts with clear manuals and technical data, a technical helpline or contact point, and a warranty with terms you understand. It is worth finding out who handles repairs and servicing, how long the maker supports a model, and whether training or demonstrations are offered.

For machines with software or digital controls, ask whether updates are provided. Support matters most for equipment you rely on every day, where a machine out of action means lost work.
