Optrel Panoramaxx CLT 2.0 - now with crystal clear technology

The world-famous Crystal Lens Technology 2.0 is now available in this Panoramaxx CLT version. Optrel engineers have thus once again pushed the limits of what is possible to a new level.  Anyone who has ever welded with CLT technology will barely be able to believe their eyes. The colour perception in the light state comes very close to the view through clear window glass, and in the dark state, you get a detailed and high-contrast view of the welding pool in a clarity never seen before. Unlock your true potential – with the Panoramaxx CLT.

Product Details

Maxximise your horizon - Six times larger field-of-view compared to standard helmets.  Fully automated shade level adjustment.  True Colour View.  Shade level 2.0 in inactive mode.  New energy concept with Lithium-polymer battery.

So wide. So light. So true colour - You’ve never seen welding this way.  With Panoramaxx, Optrel introduces a never-seen-before world of viewing to the welder. The nose cut-out brings the ADF closer to your eyes. As with eyeglasses, the ADF‘s frame becomes almost invisible to the welder, increasing the field of view by more than six times. Nevertheless, the Panoramaxx is a real lightweight at only 550g.

Panorama field of vision - The Panoramaxx offers a six times larger field of vision than standard welding helmets.

True colour view - A specially developed UV/IR filter allows the realistic colour perception typical of Optrel, bringing colour to the welder’s world.

ShadeTronic - Detection of the arc brightness and fully automatic shade level adjustment from 5 to 12.

Fitted with Optrel's IsoFit Headgear - The Optrel IsoFit® headgear sets a new standard in terms of wearing comfort. It is the only product worldwide that can be adjusted in width, length and height – i.e. three-dimensionally – to any head shape so that the helmet fits "like a glove". Panoramaxx 2.5, Quattro and CLT all come with this headgear as standard.

State-of-the-Art power technology - With its rechargeable power pack, changing batteries is no longer necessary.

Multi-Sensor Detection - The completely redesigned controls of the 5-sensor array ensure the perfect regulation of the auto-darkening filter.

Optrel Welding Helmets FAQs

Answers for buyers choosing a premium auto-darkening helmet, from light state and colour view to lenses, power and care.

What is a low light state and why might it matter to me?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

The light state is how dark the filter looks before the arc strikes. Many auto-darkening filters sit at a fairly dark light state, which can make it hard to position the torch, inspect a weld or grind without lifting the helmet. A filter with a much lighter light state, a number closer to 2 than 4, lets you see the joint more clearly between welds.

That can mean less helmet flipping and less eye strain, especially on fine TIG work or in dim workshops. The benefit is mostly about comfort and accuracy: the filter must still darken fully to the correct protective shade when the arc starts. Check the maker's data plate and manual for the light state and dark shade range.

How do I pick the right shade setting for my welding process and current?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

The correct shade depends mainly on the process and the welding current. Higher current gives a brighter arc and needs a darker shade. Common guidance is to use the maker's recommended shade table for your process and amperage, and to prefer the suggested shade rather than the minimum.

A sensible method is to begin with a shade that feels slightly darker than you think you need, then move lighter in small steps only if you cannot see the pool, staying within the recommended range for that process. Never go lighter than the range for your job just to see better. Your helmet manual and your risk assessment should have the final say.

Should I choose solar power or a replaceable battery?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Most auto-darkening filters use solar cells, a battery or a combination. Solar cells help keep the filter powered while you work, and a battery can give a backup, which helps in dim conditions or at low arc current.

Whether the battery can be replaced varies by model. A replaceable battery lets you fit a new one when needed, while some filters use a sealed cell that is not designed to be changed, which can limit working life. Check the manual to see how your helmet is powered, whether the battery can be replaced and whether there is a low battery warning. Keep a spare battery to hand if your helmet uses a replaceable type.

When should I replace the cover lenses?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

The outer cover lens protects the filter from spatter, scratches and impact. Replace it when it becomes scratched, pitted with spatter or hazy, because a damaged lens reduces how clearly you can see the work and the filter.

The inner lens, where fitted, should be replaced if it is cracked, badly scratched or discoloured by smoke. Cover lenses are consumable parts that exist to protect the filter, so change them before they degrade your view. Always fit the lens designed for your helmet, as shape and fit differ between models, and check the manual for the right part and how to remove and refit it without touching the electronics.
