Product Details

Entry-level welder with professional performance.

Rogue EMP single-phase welding power sources take everything welders loved about Caddy Mig to the next level with proven Rogue performance and a rugged industrial design. Power Factor Control (PFC) technology allows for a highly efficient and steady arc resistant to power fluctuations. Break away from convention with Rogue.

Built to withstand impact after impact.

No other machine at this price point matches Rogue’s strength. Its robust and rigid fibreglass-moulded housing is built to withstand impact after impact in the shop or the field. Like every ESAB machine, Rogue has an industry-leading, 3-year warranty for unbeatable peace of mind. Goodbye to cheaply constructed welders; hello to strength and toughness when you go, Rogue.

A portable workhorse.

Rogue’s compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry from job to job, with sturdy handles and a small footprint. Thanks to stable arc performance, it performs in the workshop or on-site, on both mains and generator power, all without affecting weld quality. With its durable and weather-resistant housing and IP23S rating, Rogue is the definition of a portable workhorse.

Next-level multiprocess welding performance.

A full-colour 5” screen and intuitive interface allow easy access to all features and parameters, even in bright sunlight. Maximise performance to the max with a proper multiprocess welder with Synergic MIG, Manual MIG, MIG Brazing, Flux-Cored, Lift TIG, Stick/MMA, and 6010 cellulosic capabilities.

Advanced features for total control.

With Arc Dynamics, you can fine-tune arc characteristics based on the welding material. So, if you need a stiff arc for carbon steel or a soft arc for stainless, Rogue will not disappoint you. Advanced MIG features include adjustable pre- and post-flow, burn back control, wire jog and gas purge. In MMA mode, hot start and arc force control ensure smooth starts and consistent welds.

230v MIG Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing a MIG welder that runs from a normal single-phase supply.

Who are single-phase MIG welders for?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

They suit workshops, garages, farms, mobile engineers and light fabrication where a standard single-phase supply is all you have. Modern inverter designs draw relatively little current for their output, so many can run from a normal socket or a suitable dedicated circuit.

They are popular for both industrial and home use, and cover a wide range of work from thin sheet to moderate thickness.

What is the difference between an inverter and a conventional single-phase MIG welder?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

An inverter converts the supply electronically, which generally makes the machine lighter and smaller, and often gives finer control of the arc. A conventional (transformer) machine uses a heavy transformer, so it is bulkier, but it is simple and robust.

How much current each type draws for a given output varies between machines, so compare the input current and weight on the data plate and in the manual. For portability and a limited supply an inverter is often the better choice, while some people prefer a transformer design for rugged, simple workshop use.

What is the maximum thickness a single-phase machine can weld?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

It depends on the machine's output and the process. Smaller machines suit thin sheet and light fabrication, while larger single-phase units cope with thicker plate, especially with good joint preparation and multiple passes.

Check the maker's stated capacity rather than relying only on the headline current, and remember that duty cycle limits how long you can weld at the top of the range.

How does duty cycle affect me?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Duty cycle is the proportion of a ten-minute period a machine can weld at a given current before it must cool. Machines usually have a much higher duty cycle at lower current.

If you weld for long periods at high current, choose a machine with a suitable rating. If the machine overheats, a thermal cut-out stops it until it cools.
