THE REBELLION KEEPS GROWING.

Great all-process performance can be all yours with Rebel EMP 205ic AC/DC, the only portable machine of its kind that lets you TIG weld aluminium like a pro and run 6010 electrodes on 120V input.

Rebel EMP 205ic AC/DC runs MIG, Flux-Cored, MMA, DC TIG, and AC TIG like it was born to, without sacrificing performance. It comes with all the Rebel features welders love - an easy-to-use TFT display, a built-in user manual, welding parameters and process settings, multi-lingual controls, memory, dual voltage capabilities (90–270V), a durable industrial-grade IP23S-rated package for outdoor use, and a weight of only 25.5Kg, meaning you can weld anything, anywhere.

Product Details

Weld any process, anywhere.

ESAB made the impossible possible with the first portable, all-process machine, complete with MIG, Flux-Cored, MMA, DC TIG and now AC TIG capabilities, which means - yes - it TIG welds aluminium. It is a true all-in-one welding system that delivers best-in-class performance in each process in the most portable, durable, go anywhere, weld anything industrial package on the market today.

Yes, it TIG welds aluminium - with full function features

Fixed or limited settings won't cut it in your world. It's why ESAB built the Rebel EMP 205ic AC/DC for welders who want full control over the arc for unmatched performance. That means you get LiftTIG and high frequency (HF) start, AC wave balance (60 - 90%), AC frequency (25 - 400 Hz), pulsed (DC) (1 - 500) pps), and amplitude offset - the next level in AC TIG adjustment.

The kind of technology you'd expect from a Rebel

Whether you've been welding for two years or 20, Rebel can make your job easier with ESAB's ground-breaking feature: sMIG (smartMIG). For hobbyists, there's basic mode, which makes setup simple. And for veterans, the exclusive, built-arc arc control that constantly monitors your weld and adapts for superior, repeatable welds will make you a believer in the power of a Rebel.

Take it with you, wherever you go

You never know what welding process your next job will require, or what kind of input power you will have available. That is why ESAB have packed Rebel with the kinds of features that give you the flexibility to go anywhere and weld anything, so whether you have access to 120v or 230v power or even a generator, Rebel's sturdy five-handle roll cage, steel unibody construction, industrial-grade IP23S-rated protection and 3-year warranty has got you convered.

230v MIG Welders FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most when choosing a MIG welder that runs from a normal single-phase supply.

Can I plug it into a normal socket?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Some smaller machines can, but many need a dedicated circuit with suitable protection, and some larger single-phase machines need a heavier supply than a normal domestic socket gives. Check the machine's input current and the supply and fuse or breaker rating it requires.

Have a qualified electrician check the supply if you are unsure. Running a machine beyond what the circuit can supply causes tripping and can be dangerous.

What is the maximum thickness a single-phase machine can weld?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

It depends on the machine's output and the process. Smaller machines suit thin sheet and light fabrication, while larger single-phase units cope with thicker plate, especially with good joint preparation and multiple passes.

Check the maker's stated capacity rather than relying only on the headline current, and remember that duty cycle limits how long you can weld at the top of the range.

Should I buy a bigger machine than I think I need?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

A little extra capacity is often worthwhile, because a machine working well within its rating runs cooler, copes better with longer welds and gives room to grow. Very large machines use more power, are heavier and may need a stronger supply.

Think about the thickest material you will weld and how continuously you will weld.

How does duty cycle affect me?icon-minus-redicon-plus-red

Duty cycle is the proportion of a ten-minute period a machine can weld at a given current before it must cool. Machines usually have a much higher duty cycle at lower current.

If you weld for long periods at high current, choose a machine with a suitable rating. If the machine overheats, a thermal cut-out stops it until it cools.
