The Micro Torch is the smallest and most versatile TIG torch on the market! These torches come complete with a kit and accessories to help make your job easier.
With a 70 amp rating and a ballpoint pen size, the new MR70 Micro Torch will handle your hard-to-access welding applications. Clear Pyrex nozzles and a low-profile torch body make the MR70 perfect for the operator to see the weld puddle ensuring a high-quality weld. 45°, 90° and 180° heads are easily interchangeable onto the body and are included in the torch package. The different angled heads all use the same clear Pyrex nozzle eliminating the need for angled nozzles. The tungsten electrode is easily adjusted with the Tungsten Stick-Out Gauge and Wrench, also included in the torch package. Simply set the gauge to the desired length and tighten the collet with the wrench securing the tungsten electrode. Super Flex® hoses complete the package minimising the weight and pull of the cable assembly when performing intricate TIG welding applications.
Answers for buyers choosing a complete small air-cooled micro TIG torch package with a superflex lead.
A micro TIG torch is a very small, light air-cooled torch with a slim neck and small head, designed for fine work: thin sheet, small fabrications, instrument and tube work, and joints where a standard torch will not fit. Its size gives you a better view of the weld pool and more precise control in tight spaces. It is a low-current tool, not a general-purpose torch. For thicker material or long runs at high current, a larger torch, usually with a higher rating, is a better choice. Check the torch rating against the current you plan to weld at.
The rating is the current the torch is designed to carry at its stated duty cycle. Duty cycle is normally quoted as a percentage of a 10-minute period, so a torch rated for a given current at a lower percentage must rest for the remainder of that period.Running above the rating makes the handle and lead heat up faster, which shortens life and can cause the torch to become too hot to hold. Do not overdrive a small torch. If the job needs more current, choose a torch with a higher rating. The rating and duty cycle on the torch data plate or in the maker's manual are the figures that apply to your torch.
A superflex lead is a lightweight, very flexible hose for the power and gas supply, usually with a soft rubber or silicone-type inner and a braided outer layer. It is lighter and more pliable than a standard hose, so it pulls less on the torch head, which helps with fine control and reduces hand fatigue.Even so, protect it from sharp edges, hot metal and kinks, and check the maker's instructions for the correct torch series and connection type before ordering a replacement.
Choose the shortest lead that lets you reach the work comfortably. A longer lead gives you more reach around a bench or fabrication, but it is heavier and has more slack to snag, kink or lie in hot metal. A shorter lead is lighter and tidier, and is often enough for bench-top fine work.If you move around a large workpiece or weld away from the machine, a longer lead is worth having. Keep it from coiling tightly in use and from sharp bends or rubbing. Our team can help you choose between the lengths listed.
